The financial basis of the Erling-Persson Family Foundation comprises donations by Stefan Persson, Chairman of H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB.The purpose of the Foundation is to:
- promote the care and upbringing of children.
- promote scientific research.
- provide support for the provision of tuition or education.
The Foundation does not provide funding for basic research but give priority to closeness to patient's and more application orientated medical research.
The Foundation gives preference to research projects of an interdisciplinary nature. There is no geographical restriction on where the applicant or applicants shall live or work.
The Foundation does not provide funding for:
- private persons if the application has no links to an organisation.
- if the application is made by another foundation or fund that also provides funding.
- if the application is in respect of activities for which municipalities, county councils or the State have a regulatory funding responsibility.
- if the application is in respect of a measure that cannot be expected to be of lasting or substantial importance.
